Ko Richard Steedman ahau

I am from the Winiata whānau and my wife Ruiha (nee Wereta who is from the Pikirangi and Pine whānau) and I live at Moawhango.

We have six tamariki and many mokopuna which keep us busy in our day to day lives.

I have had the honour of taking over the Chairmanship of our Owhaoko B&D Lands Trust from our inaugural Chair Arapiu Seymour who led the Trust for many years.

In my working life I have been involved in Local Government, Information Systems and Health and eventually into Whānau Ora and Iwi Development.

I have also researched and studied carefully the tribal histories and whakapapa of our Mōkai Pātea tūpuna and rohe.

My time is devoted to the advancement of our Iwi, Hapū, Whānau, Marae and Whenua of Mōkai Pātea with my current employment being as both a Strategic Advisor to the Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Claims Trust and a Negotiator to settle the Mōkai Pātea Claims with the Crown.
